Miami Beach’s hotspot Drunken Dragon continues to be a local favorite, especially since you have to be a local to find it.
Hidden in an unassuming strip mall (in between Bank of America and Domino’s Pizza), you feel “in the know” when you pull back the unmarked doors to reveal a gorgeous tiki-inspired room full of exotic design, chic clientele, and hypnotic aromas. You’re immediately transported to – well – I’m not quite sure where, but definitely not South Beach.
From the same guys who brought you the also-secretive Foxhole bar, this Korean BBQ / Pan Asian style restaurant is always packed, despite have no signage or advertising (perhaps part of the appeal). Before you walk in, you have no idea what to expect – and that’s exciting.

What’s unique about Drunken Dragon is they have Korean-style grill tables (seated on a first come, first serve basis) that hang by rope from the ceiling which allow you to cook your own food, although you’re not required to.
The thoughtful décor, including slabs of reclaimed Douglas Fir wood all the way from Oregon, would be enough for some but it doesn’t stop there.
Tiki cocktails served in fun Polynesian style mugs were designed by Gui Jaroschy, from The Broken Shaker. People love the Blushing Dragon (Grey Goose L’orange, Dry Curacao, Yuzu, Blood Orange, Cranberry), and the Voodoo Lady (Maestro Dobel Tequila, Pineapple,
Grapefruit, Lime, Cinnamon).
The food is decadent, with crowd favorites including: Battered Twice Twice Fried Chicken, Lobster Roll, Japanese Wagu, Short Ribs, Octopus, and Crispy Bok Choy. And don’t forget to leave room for Lou’s Mess dessert (Meringue, Berries Stew, Green Tea Chantilly).
It may not be a place to take your grandparents (it’s loud), or your best option for cheap authentic Korean BBQ (it’s expensive). But it’s absolutely the perfect place for a special date night, a birthday celebration, or an escape from the norm.

Be sure to make a reservation well in advance, (and pro-tip: call ahead the day of if you want to be at a grill table.)
